Southlake is Smiling with Invisalign
Dr. Luu of Orthos Smiles is proud to offer Invisalign, the revolutionary way of crafting smiles quickly, gently and inconspicuously. Invisalign is the most advanced and trusted clear aligner, with over 20 years of research and development, more than 900 patents and the world’s largest 3D printing operation.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign straightens teeth using a series of clear, comfortable and removable plastic trays, called aligners. They custom fit your mouth and apply gentle pressure to gradually shift teeth into ideal position. Invisalign can treat a wide range of teeth problems including open bites, deep bites and overbites.
Clear aligners are a very popular alternative to traditional braces.
There are no metal brackets or wires. No poking into the cheek or wax needed to alleviate irritation. And no emergency orthodontist appointments to fix broken metal pieces, which occurs occasionally to traditional braces.
They are removable. It is easy to maintain excellent oral hygiene with no special equipment or effort needed to brush and floss. Traditional braces restrict what you can eat – no apples, nuts, popcorn, caramel, corn on the cob…the list of sticky, chewy and hard foods to avoid wearing metal braces is long. With Invisalign, just take them out and you can eat and drink what you want.
The nearly invisible appearance lets you forget you are even wearing them in social and work settings. They are hardly noticeable even close up. If you want to straighten your smile discreetly, comfortably and fast, Invisalign might be the perfect solution for you.
The rapid results are achievable due to micro-adjustments being made often and regularly, every two weeks. Invisalign can straighten teeth up to two times faster than traditional metal braces. On average patients wear Invisalign for only one year.
From Digital to Physical
Invisalign’s clear aligners are designed using a digital scanner that captures a high-resolution 3D image of your teeth in a matter of minutes. Desired alignment is determined and Dr. Luu creates a digital plan charting the changes to come. You can even watch a video showing the simulated movements of your teeth from now to your brand new smile.
The custom-made aligners are created using proprietary materials and state-of-the-art printing. Micro shifts are mapped, the order and timing of shifts is planned, and the amount of force is calculated. New aligners are worn every two weeks to gradually position teeth into a perfect smile.
How Long Does Invisalign Take to Straighten Teeth?
Duration of treatment depends on a variety of factors. It ranges from one to three years, with the average for adult treatment being approximately a year. An older individual with severe misalignment would require a longer time for correction. Minor changes and interceptive treatment can be as short as 3-6 months. Each person responds to treatment differently, so estimated times can change during the process.
